Helmet Peak Fire Department was established in 1992 in the small mining community that was started in the early 1800’s known as San Xavier, Arizona. We are located approximately 15 miles south of Tucson and 8 miles west of the Town of Sahuarita. HPFD Station 280 covers approximately 30 square miles and provides services to approximately 3500 residents. Our coverage area includes the following: Curly Horn Ranch, Ocotillo Ranch, Wrangler Ranch, Flying Diamond Airpark, the University of Arizona San Xavier Mine Training Facility, the Komatsu Proving Ground, several churches, and all those passing through on scenic Mission Road.
Helmet Peak Fire Department is an all volunteer department and is a 501(c)3 non-profit and a member in good standing with the Arizona Corporation Commission. The department is governed by a 3 member fire board that is elected by the community.
